Corrections

Every correction we have made, dated, in public. This page exists before we need it, which is the point.

Readers act on what we publish. A regulatory story that quietly changes between the morning someone read it and the afternoon they cited it is worse than one that was simply wrong, because it destroys the only thing that makes any of it useful: that the record is stable and that we are accountable to it.

So the policy is fixed. If we get something wrong, we append the correction to the story itself, dated, where anyone who read the original will see it. We list it here. We do not delete the error, and we do not rewrite the sentence and hope nobody kept the tab open.
