This site collects one thing, for one purpose: your email address, to send you the newsletter. This page says what is kept with it, and what happens to it.

What we collect

If you subscribe to the newsletter, The Regulatory Briefing, we collect the email address you type in. With it we keep a record that you asked: the wording you agreed to, the date and time, the page you signed up on, and how you reached it. To stop the form being abused we also keep a scrambled, one-way version of the network address the sign-up came from; it cannot be turned back into the address. That is all the personal information this site collects.

Sign-up is double opt-in. We send one email asking you to confirm, and nothing else until you do. An address that is never confirmed receives nothing further.

What it is used for

Sending you the newsletter, and the calendar we send to new subscribers. Nothing else. The address is not sold, rented, shared, or used to build a profile of you. Our email service tells us whether an issue was delivered, and may tell us whether it was opened or a link was clicked; we use that to see which issues are useful and to remove addresses that bounce.

Where it is stored

The list is kept in our own subscriber database, hosted by Convex, and with Resend, the email service that sends the newsletter. Vercel, the company that hosts this site, relays the sign-up form to our own portal when a browser submits it without JavaScript. (Updated 20 September 2026, when the list moved from Netlify’s form storage to a dedicated email service, as this page said it would be.)

What we do not collect

Reading this site leaves no record with us unless you allow it. No cookies are set and no analytics run until you say yes on the consent banner; if you do, Google Analytics 4 collects anonymous page-view statistics, Microsoft Clarity records masked heatmaps and session replays, and PostHog counts page views and visits (no recordings, no visitor profiles), with every advertising flag permanently denied. Decline — or browse with Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track enabled — and no analytics loads and nothing is set. Every cookie is named, with its lifetime, in the Cookies Policy.

Separately, if a page breaks in your browser, Sentry receives an error report (what failed, on which page, and the browser and device type) so we can fix it. It sets no cookies, records no sessions, and is set not to store IP addresses.

Leaving the list

Every newsletter email carries an unsubscribe link. You can also write to editor@regulatorynews.com and we will delete your address — from the list and from the form records.
