Iambic Therapeutics priced an initial public offering at $16.00 a share on 14 October 2026, raising roughly $150 million before expenses to push its artificial-intelligence-designed cancer drug toward a pivotal trial. The San Diego company's shares, trading on the Nasdaq Global Select Market under the ticker IAM, rose on their market debut the next day — a rare bright spot in a biotech IPO market that has stayed largely closed to clinical-stage companies without late-stage trial data.

What a $150 million IPO buys IAM1363

Iambic Therapeutics is one of a small number of artificial-intelligence drug-discovery companies to reach the public markets while still running its first clinical trial. J.P. Morgan, Jefferies, BofA Securities and Citigroup underwrote the offering; ARK Investment Management and Duquesne Family Office indicated interest in buying roughly 40% of the shares before pricing. The company's own SEC filings say the bulk of the net proceeds will go toward continued development of IAM1363, its lead HER2 inhibitor, and toward advancing IAM217 and IAM-C1, two earlier programs now approaching their own first-in-human studies.

“The platform enabled us to advance our lead program from discovery to the clinic in under 24 months.” Tom Miller, Ph.D., Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer, Iambic Therapeutics — from the company's 2024 Endpoints 11 recognition announcement

Inside Iambic's design-make-test loop

Miller, a former Caltech chemistry professor, and Fred Manby, formerly of the University of Bristol, founded the company in 2019 as Entos, renaming it Iambic Therapeutics in 2023 to reflect its shift from a pure AI platform to a clinical-stage drug developer. The company calls its approach "molecular superintelligence": generative models including NeuralPLexer, for predicting how a molecule binds its target, and Enchant, now in its third version and trained on more than 6,000 molecular properties, run alongside automated wet-lab chemistry and biology in what the company describes as a weekly design-make-test cadence — intended to compress years of medicinal chemistry into months. IAM1363 itself is designed to be selective for HER2 over the related EGFR receptor and to cross the blood-brain barrier, a property aimed at HER2-altered cancers that have spread to the brain.

Three things Iambic is betting the IPO on

A platform, not one drug

IAM1363 is the proof point, but Iambic's pitch rests on the platform behind it: NeuralPLexer and Enchant have also produced IAM217, a KIF18A inhibitor with an IND submitted 30 September 2026, and IAM-C1, a CDK2/CDK4 inhibitor with an IND expected in the fourth quarter of 2026.

Pharma already pays to use it

Since 2026 began, Iambic has signed AI drug-discovery collaborations with AbbVie, Takeda and Revolution Medicines, the last of which will train a bespoke version of NeuralPLexer on Revolution Medicines' own compound libraries for up to $25 million in potential milestones.

The clock is already running

IAM1363 started dosing its first patient in March 2024; the company has said a registrational trial could start as early as 2027, subject to regulatory feedback and to data this Phase 1/1b study has not yet disclosed in detail.

A forecast nobody can agree on

Estimates for the AI-in-drug-discovery market vary enormously by publisher and by how narrowly "AI drug discovery" is defined, which is itself a sign of how new the category is. MarketsandMarkets puts the global market at $5.09 billion in 2026, growing to $17.56 billion by 2031. Grand View Research, scoping the category differently, estimates $2.35 billion in 2025 growing to $13.77 billion by 2033. Both agree on the direction — a market compounding at 25-28% a year — even as they disagree on its size by more than double.

Regulatory News outlook

We expect public-market appetite for AI-drug-discovery companies to stay tied to clinical proof rather than platform claims alone: Iambic's debut, like Insilico Medicine's Hong Kong listing in December 2025, reads as investors pricing the handful of companies with a molecule already in patients differently from the larger field still selling a platform.

How we got here: No figure here is computed beyond the two publishers' own numbers; the estimate is qualitative, based on comparing Iambic's and Insilico's clinical-stage public listings against the broader platform-stage field MarketsandMarkets and Grand View Research both forecast growing at 25-28% CAGR.

Mubadala Capital and Exor Ventures lead a Series B extension, with Qatar Investment Authority participating.

  6. November 2025

    $100M Series C

A further private round, per aggregated funding trackers, brings disclosed venture funding before the IPO to at least $250 million.

  7. 14 October 2026

    IPO priced

9,375,000 shares priced at $16.00 on the Nasdaq Global Select Market, raising roughly $150 million.

  8. Ahead

    A registrational trial to start

Iambic has said it could begin a registrational study for IAM1363 as early as 2027, pending regulatory feedback and more mature trial data.

What the IPO does not resolve: Iambic has not published response-rate or other efficacy data from the IAM1363 trial, so the clinical case for the lead program rests, for now, on trial design and safety framing rather than disclosed results. Outlets also disagree on the exact size of the stock's first-day gain — reported variously as roughly 16%, 18% and 19% — a reminder that even a priced, SEC-registered offering generates inconsistent secondary reporting in its first hours of trading.

  • Pricing: 9,375,000 shares at $16.00, the midpoint of a $15–$17 range, for roughly $150 million gross ($139.5 million net of underwriting discounts).
  • Lead program: IAM1363, a brain-penetrant HER2 inhibitor, dosing patients since March 2024 in a Phase 1/1b trial (NCT06253871).
  • Behind it: IAM217 (IND submitted 30 September 2026) and IAM-C1 (IND expected Q4 2026), plus AI-discovery collaborations with AbbVie, Takeda and Revolution Medicines.
  • Not yet public: efficacy data from IAM1363's ongoing trial, and a single reconciled figure for Iambic's total pre-IPO funding, which third-party trackers put anywhere from roughly $306 million to $462 million depending on methodology.

Frequently asked questions

How much did Iambic Therapeutics raise in its IPO?

Iambic priced 9,375,000 shares at $16.00 each on 14 October 2026, the midpoint of its $15.00-$17.00 range, for roughly $150 million in gross proceeds ($139.5 million to the company after underwriting discounts), per its SEC Form 424B4 final prospectus. Shares began trading on the Nasdaq Global Select Market under the ticker IAM the next day.

What will the money fund?

Primarily continued clinical development of IAM1363, a HER2 inhibitor in a Phase 1/1b trial (NCT06253871) for HER2-altered solid tumors, plus advancement of two earlier-stage programs: IAM217, for which an IND was submitted 30 September 2026, and IAM-C1, with an IND anticipated in the fourth quarter of 2026.

Is IAM1363 an approved drug?

No. It is an investigational compound in an open-label Phase 1/1b dose-escalation and expansion study that began dosing patients in March 2024. The company has stated it could start a registrational trial as early as 2027, pending regulatory feedback, but IAM1363 is not FDA-approved or cleared for any use.

What makes Iambic's platform different?

The company, founded in 2019 as Entos and renamed Iambic Therapeutics in 2023, says its AI models — including NeuralPLexer for structure prediction and Enchant for molecular-property prediction — run automated design-make-test cycles intended to compress the time from target to clinical candidate. It has since struck AI drug-discovery collaborations with AbbVie, Takeda and Revolution Medicines.
